Jon Home Maintenance Manager

Jon grew up in the South Bay Area of northern California and studied art and design for two years at West Valley College. He graduated from SJSU in 1997 and worked for 4 years as a liability and property damage investigator. Wanting a new challenge and change of pace, he went to work for a friend who owned a high-end finish carpentry business. Jon worked for the next four years learning the trades and developing his hands-on skills. In 2005, he moved his family to southern California and became a part of the DD Ford team. Since then he has worked in various roles within the company as a carpenter, foreman, project manager and now heads up the Home Maintenance Department.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and seven children, serving at his church and the community, and going surfing whenever he can find the time.
Ryan Remodel Department Manager

Ryan found interest in the building process at an early age. He began working hands on in the field in Northern California, building custom residential homes specializing in remodels and additions.
He has field experience working in all trades, although enjoys Project Management and working with people the most.
He is a graduate of UCSB, where he enjoyed doing finish carpentry while attending school full time to offset college expenses. After receiving his General Contractor's license in 2001, Ryan went to work to do Project Management for a large custom residential builder in Menlo Park, and came to work for D.D. Ford in 2004. He currently runs the Remodel Department for D.D. Ford Construction, and loves the opportunity to go to work each day. When not in the office, Ryan enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time with friends and his family, spending time at the beach, surfing, skiing, and chasing the Endless Summer.
Steve Project Manager

Steve started in the construction industry in 1973 wholesaling finish hardware, doors, frames and finish moldings to contractors.
Looking to obtain field experience and having learned architectural design in high school Steve became a Project Superintendent 1977 building residential tract housing, apartments and commercial construction. During this time he put his architectural design knowledge to work designing and constructing his own custom home while coordinating underground utilities for other custom homes in the neighborhood.
In 1987 Steve started his own design build construction company specializing in landscape structures and remodeling homes until 1990. Having his own business he learned to understand client needs and the necessary communication to manage expectations.
In 1991 Steve was hired as Director of Purchasing for a custom home builder in Santa Monica. There he oversaw the purchasing department and negotiated subcontracts for 36 custom homes.
The desire to be more involved in the construction process drew Steve to back to the field as a Project Manager / Senior Superintendent building custom homes in Beverly Hills, Belair, Brentwood, Malibu and Westlake Village until 2000.
Steve signed on with D. D. Ford Construction, Inc. in May of 2000 as a Senior Project Manager.
For hobbies Steve enjoys wrenching and driving his custom 1932 Ford Roadster. Steve also spends some of his afterhours as a columnist writing for Veterans Today, an online veteran’s news journal. For those relaxing moments Steve enjoys gardening and remodeling of his own home.

Hills Project Foreman

After attending Santa Barbara City College and UC Santa Cruz, Hills completed a bachelor’s degree in 1981. He then helped to complete a 6500sq. ft. split level home from footing to finish and has been building ever since. With several years as a lead carpenter, he has been building loft conversions, apartments and restaurants in Manhattan, and doing union carpentry on New York skyscrapers, bringing a wide scope of experience to the jobsite.
He spends his time at home with his wife, daughter, and pets, making time for a bit of surfing and fishing.

Over the past 25 years, my experience within the construction industry has lead me through jobs working in a number of trades. I have operated heavy equipment, specialized for a number of years as a rough carpenter, and finally found my niche as a finish carpenter. In 2001, I was hired by D.D. Ford Construction as a lead finish carpenter, and shortly after promoted to become a project Superintendent. Since the day I was hired, I have found working for D.D. Ford Construction to be an incredible experience.
I am proud to say that I work for a company that is passionate about making our clients dreams become a reality, and it has been a pleasure working here each step of the way.
When I am not working, you can find me either surfing along the central coast, snowboarding, spending time with my family, or at church strengthening my relationship with Christ.
Shay Project Administrator

Shay studied Construction Technology at Santa Barbara City College.
Brought on as a receptionist, 3 years later of learning the business and she was promoted to Project Administrator to assist the Project Managers with entering and processing paperwork. Shay spends much of her time writing, reading, and spending time with her daughter, and family. She can often be found going to the beach, parks, or just driving or walking around enjoying Santa Barbara's beauty.
Adrian Lead Carpenter

Adrian Camarillo started out with DD Ford Construction in 1996 as a laborer. His intelligence, work ethic and motivation have enabled him to steadily move up through the ranks. Pairing Adrian with veteran journeyman carpenter Rick Kreisler provided the opportunity for him to reach the level of journeyman carpenter. Adrian has since taken on the role of lead carpenter.
Adrian is a prime example of DD Ford Construction’s commitment to provide opportunities to move qualified and motivated individuals up within the organization.
Outside of work Adrian is a committed husband and father who enjoys spending quality time with his daughter and taking his wife out to dinner and the movies.
Barry Project Foreman

Barry comes from a long line of contractors, home builders and carpenters dating back to the 18th century. After graduating from college in l972 Barry was hired by his dad to help as an apprentice to do custom homes and to remodel very old historical homes. What Barry really wanted to do then, is earn enough money and take off and see the country. Well, he did just that, 41 states,11,000 miles later and no money he came home and pick up where he left off.
Now after 39 years in home construction, Barry has gained a thorough knowledge in everything from drafting, framing, finishing to cabinetry , custom furniture making, and being a general foreman.
Barry has one son, a step son and 4 grandchildren. He likes to hike in the back country, do video production and build furniture for the home.
Blair Controller

Blair is a beach transplant from the Sierras of northern California, where he swung a hammer for a custom homebuilder while he went to school. He joins DD Ford after stretches in the finance departments of two Fortune 500 companies, abbreviated with a spell teaching at a local high school.
As a new member of the DD Ford team, Blair is working to optimize processes that will enhance relationships with our trade and material partners, as well as give us a clearer picture to choose the path ahead.
Casey Project Foreman

Casey is the sixth-generation of carpenters in his family. Growing up, his father instilled in him a love and a working knowledge of the construction industry. After high school, Casey apprenticed under his father at a South Bay Construction company. Moving to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB for Cultural Anthropology, he worked his way through school working for local contractors, making it only natural for him to take a position building custom homes for a local construction company. In 2010 he began work for DD Ford in our Remodel Division. The fit was perfect, combining a highly adaptive environment, with teamwork and integrity.
Doug President

Doug Ford, our founder and president majored in Industrial Arts with an emphasis in Fine Woodworking, at California State Long Beach University. While attending school Doug built furniture and cabinets to offset his college expenses. During the summer months, Doug worked in the housing industry framing homes for a large production builder. After receiving his B.A. in Industrial Arts and earning his Journeyman Carpenter designation from the Carpenter's Trade Union, Doug moved to Santa Barbara to fulfill his student teaching requirements at Santa Barbara Junior High School. However, Doug eventually left teaching behind to venture out into the construction field, working for a general contractor in town.
Shortly after that, Doug became a sole proprietor tradesman. The first few years were spent building cabinets and furniture in a single car garage with just one employee. Doug’s growing list of clients saw how his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail set Doug apart. Their persistence saw Doug taking on bigger and bigger projects. Until ultimately, the demand for his skills led to Doug obtaining his general contractors license in 1980.
David Project Manager

David graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and holds a California General Contractors License. David has managed construction projects for 25 years and came to D.D. Ford Construction in 1998 to further his career in managing high-end residential and estate projects.
David has managed many of D.D. Ford’s award winning projects, including both new construction and major remodels. David enjoys the team process and recently completed a significant re-model of his own home which has enriched his appreciation of the client’s perspective. David enjoys spending his free time playing in Santa Barbara with his wife and daughter.
Richard Lead Carpenter

In his role (as Finish Coordinator) for DD Ford Construction, Richard provides for the consistency of finish detailing that is integral to all of our projects.
His primary trade expertise is in cabinets and finish carpentry. He manages our crew of finish carpenters and helps provide input to the design team on options for making their vision a reality.
On a personal note Richard is a happily married father of three, two boys and a girl. His family and Church are the focus of his life away from work. He is both actively and passively involved in his children’s sports interests and prides himself in their accomplishments both on and of the field. Richard is a part of the leadership at Carpinteria Community Church and enjoys the opportunities that are presented for mission projects and community outreach.
For recreation Richard would prefer to be hiking a mountain stream with a fly ready to cast to a hungry trout.

Lance Sylvia joined DD Ford Construction in 1998, bringing 15 years of experience in site supervision to the construction management team.
Prior to starting with DD Ford Lance had supervised several custom homes, commercial retail spaces, public works projects and medical office spaces.
Since joining the DD Ford team, Lance has supervised a variety of projects including a mix of custom homes, commercial TI’s and multi family residences. Lance spent approximately 5 years working as the General superintendent for DD Ford detailing and documenting assemblies as company construction standards, provided support and training for other DDF superintendents’.
A native resident of Santa Barbara, he spends his free time with his wife – cooking camping and relaxing in June Lake, Ca.

Lander has worked in construction locally since 1967. Over the years he has gained a solid reputation as a fine
craftsman making custom doors, cabinets and specialized millwork for custom installations in many fine homes
throughout the community.
As a senior site superintendent, he finds a happy niche remaining close to the work in the
field, while bringing his trademark quality and innovation to the tasks at hand.
When not at work or at home with his lovely wife Stephanie, he can be found pursuing his passion of sailing.

Michael’s first taste of construction was in his Junior year of High School while taking a remodeling course at Southern California Regional Occupation Center in Torrance CA in 1978.
He got his California Contractor’s License in 2000, and has been with DD Ford since 2007 as a Finish Carpenter and remodel Project Foreman. In his spare time Michael enjoys surfing, hiking, biking, working around his house in Ventura, and spending time with his daughter, Kirra and son, Sean.

His 13 years experience in the construction industry includes engineering, commercial and institutional with the last 4 years building high-end custom homes with D.D. Ford Construction. Val came here from Toronto, Canada and now lives in Santa Barbara with his wife and daughter.

My family and I moved to Santa Barbara from Phoenix three years ago and absolutely love it. Who wouldn’t love the beach, local activities and weather? When I’m not at work, you can find me playing on the beach with my wife, two daughters and our golden retriever. Professionally, I have been involved in the construction industry, commercial and custom homes, for over 26 years.
I like the challenge and I like to train and challenge others to do their best. I have definitely found a home with the D.D. Ford team because they have a “commitment to the finest craftsmanship and uncompromising standards.” They also share in the “commitment to providing the very best in comprehensive client services.”

Scott received an AA degree at Orange County Coast College as a Master Construction Specialist. His first day on a jobsite was a 10,000 sq. ft. custom home in Laguna Beach working as a laborer and has progressed through his hard work and perseverance. He has since worked as a superintendent on large commercial remodels and on new construction projects. He also has an extensive background in large custom home building. In his free time he enjoys working on his ranch, riding motorcycles, hiking in the mountains and is an avid outdoorsman.

Trevor has always loved construction. As a child his favorite toy was his Dad’s hammer and nails, which, as you can imagine, were often riddled throughout every surface of their home. He refined his skills and began working in the industry in 1996. He has since worked in all phases of General Contracting, including design development, on-site supervision, and project management.
Trevor began working for DD Ford in 2011 and is happy to be back in Santa Barbara, where he proposed to his beautiful wife. Trevor’s family is one of his greatest joys and they are happy to be planting roots along our sandy coast.

Bob grew up in northern California amidst the apple orchards of Sonoma County, which have long since been replaced by vineyards.
After 12 years of construction, Bob thought it might be a nice break to go back to school for a while. He moved to Boston and after 5 years earned his Bachelor’s in Architecture. As much as he enjoyed New England, Bob could not wait to get back to warmer weather of California. After six years in the Santa Barbara area, he loves the region and spends his free time surfing or hiking with his wife.
